Brazilian organic market invoices approximately 727 million US dollars in 2012

The international organic sector meets from 27–30 June 2013, when BIO BRAZIL FAIR/BioFach América Latina takes place in the Bienal Pavilion in Ibirapuera Park, São Paulo. The current Brazilian economic scenario indicates that the organic market has significantly been growing, following the trend of customers looking for healthy and safe products. On the other hand, retail and industry are offering products with the concern of valuating and applying concepts of sustainability in the whole chain. Observing this trend, the billing of the segment in 2012 was approximately 727 million US dollars, and practically one third of this amount is represented by Brazilian exports of the period. The national market has been increasing to the extent that the regulatory process in 2011 has consolidated. There is a growing increase of investments in the sector and new companies are entering the market. Moreover the launches of innovative products with high added value are moving away from the image of a segment exclusively consisting of fruits and vegetable products.

The perspectives of the great sporting events in the next years will increment this potential, as the sporting activities are themes directly related to customers’ health and wellbeing issues.

According to Ming Liu, executive coordinator of IPD Organics’ projects, the expectation is that until next year, the organic production in Brazil may reach the billing of 970 million US dollars. “This is a trend that we have already identified in United States’, Asia’s and Europe’s markets. There already was this process, and with globalization it came to Brazil”.

BIO BRAZIL FAIR goes together with BioFach América Latina
For nine years, BIO BRAZIL FAIR, International Trade Fair for Organic Products and Agroecology, contributes to the development of the organic sector bringing together producers, processors, buyers and customers in a single event. It is the biggest trade fair open to consumers in Brazil and, in this year, it brings together 120 exhibiting companies in an area of 7.000 square meters in the Bienal Pavilion of Ibirapuera Park. More than 21.000 national and international visitors are expected, among them professionals and general public.
The major news in this year is the partnership with NürnbergMesse, German promoter of BIOFACH, World’s leading Trade Fair for Organic Food, with editions in Germany, India, China, Japan, the United States and Brazil. With the union of BIO BRAZIL FAIR and BioFach América Latina the event becomes part of the international calendar of fairs for organics and expands the business opportunities of its exhibitors with buyers from all over the world.
